Cheech & Chong
These guys have been at this for quite some time. After doing stand-up comedy early in their careers, “Cheech” Marin and Tommy Chong teamed up in the ’70s and made some iconic cannabis comedy films that brought the topic to theaters across the country. Add to that, there wildly successful albums and live performances and these guys have solidified their reputation as cannabis icons
Both Cheech & Chong, at ages 72 & 81, respectively, have their own cannabis brands today and continue to advocate for the legalization of cannabis.
Susan Sarandon, 72, is a fantastic Academy Award-winning actress. Her starring roles in “Thelma & Louise”, “Bull Durham”, and “Dead Man Walking” have made her famous around the world.
But, did you know she’s also a long-time advocate for cannabis? Sarandon has spoken out in support of legalization for years. She has said “I’m a huge believer that if more people smoked — not just for medicinal purposes, but for lifestyle purposes, instead of drinking — the world would be a better place. It’s absurd that more states haven’t legalized it.”
If you thought Jimmy Buffet, 72, was only into margaritas and cheeseburgers in paradise you’d be mistaken. He’s built an empire around his music and his lifestyle brand- Landshark.
Now, he’s on the list of senior & boomer celebrities who love cannabis because he’s launched a medical cannabis label- Coral Reefer, through a licensing agreement with a Wrigley family member. It’s sold through Suterra, in Florida.
Whoopi Goldberg, 63 is an EGOT- a super talent who’s won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and a Tony. She’s seen these days on daytime TV on ABC’s “The View” where she and her co-hosts talk about virtually everything under the sun.
But, while she’s outspoken, you might not have heard her talking about her cannabis brand- Maya & Me. Created with Maya Elisabeth, a frequent High Times Cannabis Cup winner, it’s targeting women cannabis consumers. Goldberg said this about cannabis, “It’s not so much the laws that have to change but the attitudes. When you think of penicillin and all the things we discovered penicillin could take care of, I feel that’s what marijuana is.”
Joe Montana, 63, is an NFL Hall of Fame quarterback. During his 16 year NFL career he helped the San Francisco 49’ers win 4 Super Bowls.
Since retiring, Montana has built his fortune through his participation in the venture capital firm, Liquid 2 Ventures. They’re part of the group that has invested $4.1 million into the cannabis-centric media outlet, “Herb.”
Here’s what he had to say, “Legalization is picking up steam on a global level, and I feel like now is the time to spread information about the curing capabilities of this plant. As with any medicine, increased accessibility comes with the need for education. Cannabis eased my pain. It also put me in a state of healing and relief.”

I don’t mind saying that,” she said. “I’m not telling tales out of school.” But she didn’t want to go further: “I refuse to answer on the grounds that it may incriminate her . . . It’s not something that happens on a regular—I’m going to change the subject.”
