BREAKING NEWS: Illinois Will Become 11th State to Legalize Adult Use Cannabis
Illinois will become the latest state in the nation to legalize cannabis as legislators Friday passed a measure making recreational cannabis the law of the land, part of a flurry of last-minute proposals being debated in the Illinois House of Representatives. The bill to legalize passed on a 66-47 vote with 2 abstaining.
Governor J.B. Pritzker, who campaigned in support of legalization, is expected to promptly sign the bill.
Also, big news is the social-justice aspect of the Illinois legislation. When signed, it will expunge the convictions of an estimated 800,000 people who have been convicted of possession of up to 30 grams of cannabis. Learn more about this historic vote by clicking the link below.
When signed into law, dispensaries would receive their licenses by May 1st, 2020, while processors, growers and transporters would earn theirs by July 1st. […]
