Terpenes Join CBD as One of the Stars of Cannabis
While CBD is grabbing all the headlines lately, another component of the cannabis plant is beginning to get the credit it deserves- terpenes. Terpenes are the essential oils that you would find in any plant, that give the plant it’s unique aroma and taste. In the cannabis plant, the terpenes are concentrated on the flower, or bud, of the plant. These terpenes, with names like linalool or myrcene, may have funny names but they also provide specific therapeutic effects.
Linalool, for example, which is also found in lavender, helps promote restful sleep. Pinene, a terpene found in pine needles, basil, and rosemary, is known for its anti-inflammatory effects.
