Cannabis Compounds 30 Times Better than Aspirin

Two compounds in cannabis are 30 times better than aspirin. And by better, I mean that it’s 30 times more powerful than aspirin. They can relieve acute and chronic pain, as well as inflammation. And here’s the kicker. They’re not addictive and they’re not going to get you high.

So, why are we just learning about this now?

Well, let’s not forget that cannabis is still considered a Schedule 1 drug in America. That means that the government believes it’s dangerous and has no medicinal value. It also means that it hasn’t had the opportunity to be fully researched by scientists in the US. The good news is that Canada legalized cannabis last October. That allowed their scientists to deep-dive into the cannabis plant and uncover more of its amazing properties.

Hats off to the scientists at the University of Guelph in Ontario. They recently revealed that these cannabis compounds, a pair of flavonoids, are super -effective at relieving inflammation and pain.

So what are these cannabis compounds?

Cannflavin A and Cannflavin Bm are the superstar flavonoids found in the cannabis plant. They are indeed, 30 times more effective at relieving inflammation and are not psycho-active.

“There’s clearly a need to develop alternatives for relief of acute and chronic pain that go beyond opioids. These molecules are non-psychoactive and they target the inflammation at the source, making them ideal painkillers.”

Prof. Tariq Akhtar -Universiy of Guelph-Dept. of Molecular and Cellular Biology scientist

Now, to be clear, these Canadian scientists didn’t discover these flavonoids. That happened back in 1985. But the research was halted due to the prohibition on cannabis that still exists in the US, but was ended in Canada last October. In other words, Cannflavin A & CannflavinBm might not have been found to be so awesome for quite some time. So, thank you Canada.

When can I get these cannabis compounds?

So, now you’re asking yourself, when can I get my hands on some of this Cannflavin stuff? Good question. Right now, you can’t. But a company in Canada is teaming up with the scientists to create products like sports drinks that you’ll be able to consume to relieve your aches and pains in a non-addictive, non-psycho-active way.

There could also be creams, pills, and transdermal patches that would become available over the counter (OTC) to consumers in the future.

“Being able to offer a new pain relief option is exciting, and we are proud that our work has the potential to become a new tool in the pain relief arsenal,”

Steven Rothstein- Universiy of Guelph-Dept. of Molecular and Cellular Biology scientist

The more we learn about the cannabis plant, the more we benefit from it. It obviously has a lot to offer and is a natural alternative to the manufactured pharmaceuticals that have damaged so many lives. Let’s hope the US government and the rest of the world can get beyond the stigma associated with cannabis and start supporting it. The time is now.
