Alabama Couple Lose Longtime Home Over $50 Worth of Cannabis
In Woodland, Alabama, the Almond family lived in their home for 27 years. They raised their children there. They had a small family business and even raised chickens. That all changed on January 31st, 2018.
The raid came after a sheriff’s deputy said he detected the smell of cannabis coming from the house. On no notice, the task force broke down the door, set off a flashbang grenade and ordered the Almonds to the floor at gunpoint. Then, they ransacked the house. In addition to the estimated $50 worth of cannabis, the task force found a single pill of Lunesta, a prescription sleep aid.
